The ACLU of Oklahoma seeks an Intake Intern. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about the breadth of the ACLU’s work, to understand the issues facing Oklahomans, and to practice skills like identifying legal issues and communicating with potential clients. This internship can be full- or part-time with a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week. It is a remote optional position based in Oklahoma City. Compensation for this position is $15 an hour for a maximum of 20 hours a week.
Priority consideration will be given to candidates who apply by April 1, 2025, but we will review applications on a rolling basis and may fill the position before then. We hope to hire two interns.

The ACLU of Oklahoma is a nonprofit, non-partisan, privately funded organization devoted exclusively to the defense and promotion of the individual rights secured by the United States and Oklahoma constitutions.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Read all letters and emails and listen to all voicemails from the public to the ACLU of Oklahoma Legal Department,
- Catalog intake by legal issue into SharePoint,
- Respond to intake by drafting response letters and sharing legal resources,
- Report intake trends to the Legal Department,
- Create a quarterly report documenting intake by issue area, and
- Monitor the ACLU of Oklahoma Mobile Justice App and hotlines.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Emotional maturity sufficient to spend significant time reading and responding to intake addressing traumatic events,
- An understanding of the Constitution and civil rights issues,
- A commitment to civil rights and the work of the ACLU,
- Excellent organization and writing skills, and
- Proficiency in SharePoint, Excel, and Microsoft Office.
